One of a Kind. Hand made clock put together over many weeks in our garage (now workshop) with wood veneers. Soft yellow and Neutralswood veneers, dyed in Italy, give a "country" look to this lovely clock. Please note that there is damage to one of the veneers as shown in the large image. This is reflected in the price.
The veneers were laser cut into the cube shapes that quilters call tumbling blocks or tumbling cubes. Each cube was gently sanded by hand on all sides before being laid in the geometric design. Once they had dried the clock was gently sanded again and the edging, which is made from ancient "bog oak" that has been buried in fields in East Anglia for literally thousands of years, was added to it. The colour of the edging is as it came out of the ground. It has not been dyed or coloured.
Once this was completed a coating of sealant was applied to bring out the subtle colours of the wood. It was then gently polished. Recommend that a gentle polish is given to the clock about twice a year. Also suggest it is kept out of direct sun light.
We have been told by the timber merchant, based in East Anglia, that it has been carbon dated to 3000 years B.C.
The edging and the diamond shape combine to give an amazing 3 dimentional look to the clock. It has an art deco style to it.
I have put a megaquartz clock mechanism in the back of the clock. 5th image shows back of clock. It needs one AAA battery which is not included.
Approx. size: 353 x 180 x 28 mm or 14 x 7 x 3 inches (including clock mechanism).
